The things people ask first
Is Waves really free?
Yes. Groups, people, expenses, currencies, offline use and settling up are unlimited on the free tier and always will be. Plus exists for the features with a real running cost behind them — AI receipt scanning, photo storage and extra devices.
Does everyone need to install the app?
No. Share a link or a QR code and people can join and see the group in a browser. They can create an account later if they want the app — the ledger follows them.
What happens when I have no signal?
Nothing stops. Waves writes every expense to your phone first, so adding, editing and splitting all work offline. When you reconnect it syncs in the background and reconciles anything that changed while you were away.
Can Waves handle more than one currency?
Yes, from the very first expense. Amounts are stored in the currency they were spent in, and you can set the exchange rate you actually got — for one bill, for one person, or for a whole trip.
Does Waves move money?
No, and that's deliberate. Waves works out who pays whom and how much, then hands that to the payment app you already use — UPI, PayPal, PayID or a bank transfer. Your money never passes through us.
What do you do with my data?
As little as possible. The ledger on your device is encrypted at rest, receipt photos can stay on your own device or your own cloud storage, and there are no ads and no data sales. Deleting your account deletes your data.
